“If You Were to Make a City…”

This was in the Metropolitan section of the New York Times on Sunday September 11, 2011.  Not the best maps/diagrams I have seen them produce but some interesting content about lower Manhattan developments since 9/11.  My main note comes from the closing down and opening up portion, it is unique to graph all the businesses that have opened and closed since 9/11 but what about the ones that were there prior to 9/11 that are still in operation today?  Hope you all enjoy,

Matt

  1. I hope you don’t mind that I inserted an image from the news story into your post, Matt. You raise an important point about these infographics: they rarely make transparent the methodology through which their data is derived.
