We’ll meet on Saturday, October 29th at 10:00am in the Map Division, first floor, room 117 of the of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 42nd Street & 5th Avenue. Mischka Vance will give us “a very brief overview and then we will walk over to the NYPL South Court Classrooms where we will be working.” More from Mishka:
“The first half of the workshop will be the demonstration and training, showing the students how to use the Map Warper tool. The second half will be time for students to rectify maps, ask questions and get help as needed.” So, it’s in your best interest to look through the available maps beforehand, to try to identify a few that could play a role in your own project, so you take advantage of Mishka’s expertise!
Mishka has asked that we all create Map Warper accounts for ourselves prior to Oct 29th:
To create an account, the student goes to http://maps.nypl.org/warper/ and clicks “Create Account” at the top right side of the page. The student then enters his or her name, email address, and creates a password. A link will be sent to the student’s email address to activate the account.
