Final THOUGHTS:

This whole course was a real journey for me . I am happy I made it with you all and with my other friends who were involved in the project. It was not an easy one as I tried to describe above it was a tough process and I was going through difficult times , but I am lucky that I had you to help me deal with them. I liked the readings and the visiting guests in our class, but I have to say I learned the most from your projects both knowledge wise and both as solving problems. One thing, I was thinking for this course to experiment with in the future will be to have lab class every week, where people will learn about data modeling, urt as a tool and some other practical things- maybe when we talked about working in the archives- the lab might have a session where they could visit the archive. And the seminar section will have more time to discuss about the readings as this class some of the most interesting readings in it. One other thing I was wondering was having a mapping projects conference in which the people in the class can present their work the following year and we might have the other schools who had similar projects going on to come and share their work and looking for possible collaborations. (having Stanford, Columbia projects) This might be useful for the designing teams to exchange technological knowledge with each other and come up with necessary tools.

  1. Thank you, Mert! These are arriving a bit late, so I unfortunately can’t comment on all your posts — but I do appreciate all the great recommendations you offer here. I’ll certainly consider these ideas for the next time we offer the class!
